Trades and Industries students

compete at DMACC

Congratulations

to

Josh

Delutri, Tyson Weiler, and

Devin Paulsen (alternate)

who qualified to compete at

Des Moines Area Community

College (DMACC) in a hands-

on automotive competition

on December 16. The LCHS

students will compete for

prizes including tools and

toolboxes.

On

Wednesday,

October 19, Abraham Cerda,

Riley Kluver, Josh Delutri,

Tyler Holzman, Tyson Weiler,

Jason Stoll, Devin Paulsen, and

Mr. Paul Fisher, auto instructor,

travelled to DMACC in

Ankeny, to compete in an auto

competition.

Mr. Fisher states,

“The auto students across the

state are invited by the college

to showcase their skills in the

automotive industry.”

Mr. Fisher always

looks forward to LCHS

students doing well which

shows that he is teaching the

right information. To enter

the competition, the students

chose the area they wanted to

compete in. Then each student

took a hands-on skills test and

a written knowledge test.

Mr. Fisher chose the students

with the highest score in each

category to compete.

LCHS students waiting to begin the written assessment at the recent

trades and industry competition at Des Moines Area Community

College.

In November eighth grade students took time out of Civics class

to explore high school elective classes. During the career day,

the teachers who teach elective classes gave a brief overview of

what the classes offer and how each class pertains to future career

options available to students.

The career and technical education teachers include

Dave Irwin, Joel Jentz, JoAnn Johnson, Amy Kelly, Paul Fischer,

Brett Oetken, LeRoy Wichers, and Bill Dalton.
