In recent years, calculus has become important in the fields of economics, business and life sciences besides the

traditional importance in engineering and the physical sciences. This course will center on differential and integral

calculus and limits and will include a variety of applications that will connect calculus with "real-life"

situations. Graphing calculators will be used throughout the course. Students are encouraged, but not required

to purchase a TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. (You must be enrolled in class the full year to receive WITCC

credit.)

In college pre-calculus, students are introduced to new ideas, techniques, and concepts in mathematics that will

enable students to prepare for the more rigorous mathematics needed at colleges, universities and technical

schools. This college level math class is designed to include trigonometry, analytical geometry, higher level

functions, matrix algebra, probability, statistics and introductory differential and integral calculus. Graphing

calculators will be used throughout the course. Students are encouraged, but not required to purchase a TI-83

Plus graphing calculator. (You must be enrolled in class the full year to receive WITCC credit.)
