Solving problems with an unknown will also be presented. Students who enroll in this class should have a sound math background. It provides the fundamentals of a standard algebra course: simplifying variable expressions, solving equations, graphing linear and quadratic functions, and problem solving. ALGEBRA 2 (NCAA) Course Length: 1 Year Credits: 2 Elective/Required: Required Option Prerequisite: Passing grade in Algebra or Algebra 1B, and Geometry Grade Level: 11, 12 An elective course for students interested in increasing their proficiency in mathematics. Since algebra is the basic foundation for many careers, students will find this course expands on topics covered in Algebra 1. Graphing calculators will be used throughout the year. Students are encouraged but not required to purchase a TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. ALGEBRA 3 (NCAA) Course Length: 1 Year Credits: 2 Elective/Required: Required Option Prerequisite: Passing grade in Algebra 2 or Modern Algebra 2 both semesters Grade Level: 12 Algebra 3 is an elective course. It is a continuation of many of the same topics included in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, but at a more complex level. Topics include linear functions and inequalities, quadratics, conics, polynomials and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, linear systems, matrices and determinants. Additional topics may include trigonometry, sequences, series, permutations, combinations and probability. Students are encouraged to purchase a TI-83 or TI-84 calculator to use during this course.
